I started with a thick sans-serif as my base for the typeface. From there, I hand-drew each spike. During this process, I had to decide if I wanted to continue the spikes throughout the insides of letters. Would it be overwhelming to readers? Ultimately, I chose to do it. The contrast of the negative space spikes inside letters works well with the loud outer border.
